Senior Software Engineer, Target Tracking

Senior Software Engineer on Anduril’s Air & Missile Defense Radar team, focused on real-time multi-target tracking algorithms and production software systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques
• Develop high-performance, real-time software that processes radar sensor data and maintains tracks across dozens to hundreds of simultaneous targets
• Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify improvements
• Partner with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems
• Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter
• Explain technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to support informed decisions
• Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to verify deployment success and operational effectiveness

Requirements

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
• Strong mathematical foundation including linear algebra, probability, statistics, and/or differential equations
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance

• Responsibilities span novel multi-target tracking algorithm development through high-performance distributed systems that process large volumes of sensor data in milliseconds

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms (e.g., Kalman filters, particle filters, multiple hypothesis tracking)
• Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
• Familiarity with radar systems or sensor fusion
• Experience with high-performance computing (multithreading, GPU acceleration, distributed systems)
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
• Proficiency with database technologies including SQL, NoSQL, and time-series databases
• Experience with web technologies for visualization and analysis tools (JavaScript, React, Node.js)
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or custom frameworks)
• Experience working in agile development environments
• Active U.S. Top Secret SCI clearance
