Senior Software Engineer, Robotics

This onsite Senior Software Engineer, Robotics role focuses on manipulation, building software that enables robots to interact with their surroundings and complete real world tasks. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, product managers, and other software teams to integrate capabilities into broader robotic systems. Compensation

Salary: USD 112,000 - 180,000 per year. This position is onsite in Bedford, MA.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain production grade robotic manipulation software.
• Develop high performance manipulation algorithms, covering motion planning, kinematics, control strategies, and motion execution to enhance robotic solutions.
• Utilize and extend simulation environments to test and refine manipulation development for robust, reliable performance.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, product managers, and other software teams to integrate capabilities into broader robotic systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Communicate technical priorities and project status effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience in a production environment.
• Strong development expertise in Python.
• Understanding of parallel and distributed systems and asynchronous/concurrent programming.
• Experience developing and integrating drivers for robotic hardware, particularly robotic arms.
• Experience developing APIs and SDKs for robotic systems.
• Experience developing RESTful interfaces and gRPC services/clients.
• Familiarity with system design and design patterns.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and automated testing (unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
