Overview

Senior Software Engineer on-site in Albany, NY, accountable for owning complex features, steering architectural decisions, and mentoring engineers on a distributed Java and Spring Boot based e-Discovery platform.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and maintain scalable software applications and services
• Lead technical design discussions and help establish engineering standards and best practices
• Own features end-to-end, from requirements through deployment and monitoring
• Conduct and guide code reviews to raise the team’s quality bar
• Troubleshoot and resolve challenging production issues, including performance and reliability concerns
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, QA, and infrastructure teams to deliver robust solutions
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and constructive feedback
• Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and estimation as a technical voice on the team

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 6+ years of professional software development experience with strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and SQL
• Proven ability to design and build distributed, cloud-hosted applications at scale
• Deep understanding of software architecture patterns, design principles, and testing methodologies
• Experience with services, messaging queues (RabbitMQ or equivalent), and caching layers (Redis or equivalent)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience influencing technical direction across a team
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and elevate team performance
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• On-site role; remote work is not offered
