Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer for Embedded Communications at Collins Aerospace SPS focuses on translating system requirements into software requirements and UML/SysML models for mission-critical embedded systems, collaborating across teams and contributing to certification planning.

Role Overview
This position emphasizes converting high-level system needs into actionable software requirements and modeling artifacts, supporting a large-scale program through cross-functional engagement and certification activities.
Responsibilities
- Work with a dynamic software team in a cross-functional setting to define and translate System Requirements into Software Requirements and UML/SysML models for a large program
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and interns in collaboration with Senior and Principal Software Engineers to foster growth and skill development
- Provide direct technical support to stakeholders, addressing questions, troubleshooting issues, and delivering solutions to maintain project momentum and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with team members across domains to improve software design and code, ensuring alignment with customer needs and certification standards
- Own the production of high-quality software builds within an integrated test environment, ensuring performance and reliability through thorough testing and validation
Requirements
- Experience with embedded development using object-oriented design
- Familiarity with development toolsets such as Jira, Subversion, Git, and general version management
- Active and transferable SECRET clearance required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship is required due to security clearance eligibility
- Typically requires a STEM degree with at least five years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least three years of relevant experience
