Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems & Full Stack Development

Solai and Cameron Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who specializes in distributed systems and full-stack development to design, build, and operate large-scale, cloud-native platforms. With 10+ years delivering enterprise backend services, microservices, and scalable cloud solutions, you will steer technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, architecture, security, and platform teams in a hybrid role based in Las Vegas.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle from requirements through architecture, implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Build backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and Python.
• Design service interfaces using REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.
• Construct resilient, fault-tolerant systems leveraging modern reliability practices.
• Improve performance, scalability, and architectural modernization initiatives.
• Architect and operate highly available services in AWS environments.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform.
• Design multi-region and multi-cloud solutions for high-volume workloads.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Establish observability, monitoring, and incident management practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations and production support activities.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for production issues.
• Design resilient systems with circuit breakers, retry mechanisms, and fault-tolerant architectures.
• Drive service availability, disaster recovery, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Lead architectural reviews and technical design discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and platform teams.
• Conduct technical interviews and contribute to engineering hiring efforts.
• Influence engineering standards, coding practices, and platform strategies.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java, Scala, Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
• Expertise in REST APIs, gRPC, GraphQL, event-driven architectures, and microservices design patterns.
• Background in distributed systems engineering.
• Frontend and backend capabilities including React, Node.js, Backbone.js, Ruby on Rails, HTML5, CSS3, Java Servlets, JSP, and jQuery.
• Cloud and container technologies: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Docker Swarm.
• Infrastructure as Code and deployment tools: Terraform, Spinnaker, Istio Service Mesh.
• Databases and data stores: DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Aurora MySQL, SQL databases, MongoDB, distributed data stores.
• CI/CD pipeline implementation, plus observability and incident tooling with Datadog, PagerDuty, LaunchDarkly.
• Resilience and production operations experience with Chaos Testing and RCA practices.
• Awareness of AI tooling and code assistants including Github Copliot/AWS Bedrock, Claude Code, AI-generated test automation, AI-assisted software development, and GenAI tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building large-scale SaaS, consumer internet, streaming, networking, or enterprise platforms.
• Experience designing and operating services that support millions of users.
• Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN), cloud security, and multi-cloud environments.
• Understanding of distributed consensus, fault tolerance, caching, and data replication patterns.
• Experience building internal developer platforms and configuration management systems.
• Exposure to security frameworks, encryption services, and key-management solutions.

Compensation

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
