Job Description

Computer Enterprises Inc (CEI) is hiring a Senior Python Software Engineer for a 12 month contract role in Orlando, FL (Hybrid), with onsite 2–4 days per week (subject to change). You’ll help design and build reliable, high-throughput, low-latency services and AWS cloud infrastructure components, using strong DevOps practices to deliver dependable outcomes.

What you’ll build

  • Scalable backend services with performance and reliability as core design goals
  • Cloud infrastructure components and supporting services on AWS
  • Implementation details such as data structures, code organization, and maintainable patterns
  • Scalable approaches that support scaling, performance, and architectural evolution

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, well-documented software with strong performance characteristics
  • Build and enhance cloud infrastructure components and supporting services
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional partners to shape engineering proposals and best practices
  • Define low-level implementation details, including data structures, code organization, and maintainable patterns
  • Recommend technical approaches that address scaling, performance, and architectural evolution
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and maintain high engineering standards
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience, including distributed systems and data-focused problem solving
  • Expert-level programming ability with strong attention to time/space complexity and maintainable design
  • Strong Python development experience
  • DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerization (Docker), testing, and automation
  • Hands-on AWS implementation experience with services such as IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, and SNS
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience

Tools you’ll use

Python, Docker, CI/CD, AWS (IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, SNS), Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, TypeScript, Java

Contract details and compensation

  • $80–85/hour
  • W2 only
  • 12 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
  • Location: Orlando, FL (Hybrid: onsite 2–4 days per week; subject to change)

Preferred skills

  • Proficiency in at least one strongly typed language (for example TypeScript or Java)
  • Knowledge of trade-offs across data storage systems and architectures (for example SQL vs. NoSQL, partitioning, data warehouses)
  • Ability to generalize and reuse existing services and implementations
  • Strong ability to stay current on modern software engineering and data management practices
