Senior Software Engineer, C++

Anduril Industries is building real-time capabilities for Air & Missile Defense Radar, where software is used to detect, track, and characterize airborne threats with speed and precision. In this role on the Air & Missile Defense Radar team, you will develop and validate tracking algorithms and distributed systems, then help integrate them into end-to-end defense workflows that support demonstrations and field testing.

This Senior Software Engineer position is based in Denver, CO (onsite) and focuses on performance-critical software that maintains tracks across large numbers of simultaneous targets, with careful attention to system capability, trade-offs, and operational effectiveness.

Role Summary

• Develop, optimize, and integrate real-time tracking solutions for multi-target detection, tracking, fusion, and discrimination
• Build and validate models and simulation environments to assess tracking performance and guide improvements
• Support integration with end-to-end defense systems, including customer demonstrations and field tests

Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced tracking algorithms for novel air and missile threats, including multi-target tracking, track fusion, and discrimination techniques
• Develop high-performance, real-time software to process radar sensor data and maintain tracks on dozens to hundreds of simultaneous targets
• Build and leverage modeling and simulation environments to validate tracking performance, quantify system capabilities, and identify improvement areas
• Collaborate with radar engineers and system architects to integrate tracking solutions into end-to-end defense systems
• Optimize tracking software for performance-critical environments where milliseconds matter
• Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers
• Participate in customer demonstrations and field tests to support successful deployment and operational effectiveness

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
• Solid math foundation, including linear algebra, probability, statistics, and/or differential equations
• Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals including design patterns, testing, version control, and debugging
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with tracking, estimation, or filtering algorithms such as Kalman filters, particle filters, and multiple hypothesis tracking
• Background in controls, estimation theory, or digital signal processing
• Familiarity with radar systems or sensor fusion
• Experience with high-performance computing including multithreading, GPU acceleration, or distributed systems
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, or data association
• Proficiency with database technologies including SQL, NoSQL, and time-series databases
• Experience using web development technologies such as JavaScript, React, and Node.js for visualization and analysis tools
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools including MATLAB, Simulink, or custom frameworks
• Experience working in agile development environments
• Active U.S. Top Secret SCI clearance

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: USD 190,000 - 252,000 per year
