Senior Software Engineer

SAIC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in San Diego, California for an on-site role. The position involves designing and building secure, modular software components in a Linux (RHEL) environment and includes work across web technologies, custom C++ applications, and web-based middleware. An ACTIVE SECRET clearance is required to start, with Top Secret required after start.

Compensation

• Target salary range: USD 120,001 - 160,000 per year

Role Summary

This Senior Software Engineer position requires high experience with JavaScript and React, familiarity with Linux (RHEL), and strong Web experience. Responsibilities also include development on RHEL, working with custom C++ based applications, X windows-based applications, and web-based middleware, along with supporting security accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform software engineering design and development activities to produce reliable, modular, and secure software components.
• Develop software on a RHEL operating system platform.
• Support development that includes custom C++ applications, X windows based applications, and web-based middleware.
• Perform application writing and policy development activities to support security accreditations.

Required Qualifications

• Education and experience alignment:
  • Bachelors: 5 (five) years or more experience
  • Masters: 3 (three) years or more experience
  • PhD: 0 years related experience
• Linux (RHEL) familiarity.
• Front-end technology experience, including JavaScript, React, CSS3, and HTML5, plus third-party libraries such as React Js, Angular, jQuery, and LESS.
• Strong Web experience.
• Industry experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale systems in production.
• Experience with Nginx or Apache servers with a solid background in Linux.
• Familiarity with DBMS technology including PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and MySQL.
• Basic design ability, including knowledge of UI/UX and basic prototype design.
• Excellent understanding of low-level operating system concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.
• Ability to visualize a proposed system and build it.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start.
• Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance after start.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with C++.
• Strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
