Job Description

This Senior full stack engineering position focuses on building modern frontend applications for a healthcare mission driven organization. You will work closely with Product, UX, and engineering teams to deliver responsive, secure web experiences across client-side and server-side systems.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex applications using React on the front end and Node.js on the back end.
  • Ensure smooth integration between client-side and server-side components to support responsive, scalable, and secure web applications.
  • Build user interfaces for a large web monolith as well as small to moderate micro-frontends and services, while maintaining standards for accessibility, performance, and usability.
  • Implement and optimize UI components that align with enterprise design systems and technical standards.
  • Lead applications through the full software development life cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and system design through deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Support high-quality releases using continuous integration, code reviews, and automated testing.

Role Requirements

  • Demonstrated current skills on both the frontend and backend with React and Node. Only candidates with this skill set will be considered.
  • Experience delivering work on moderate to large web monoliths.
  • Experience taking an application through the full project life cycle process.
  • Extensive experience using Agile for software delivery.
  • Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical professionals to drive innovation.
  • Understanding of crucial applications and products in the Science, Medicine, Education business vertical.

Team and Product Context

The Clinical Key Web team owns the frontend for one of Elsevier’s flagship products. The platform is used daily by thousands of physicians, nurses, medical students, and other roles to improve patient care and research.
