Senior Data Engineer

Join SoFi in Jacksonville, FL (onsite) to help build and scale the data infrastructure behind Fraud Operations Analytics. In this Senior Data Engineer role within the Fraud Prevention Center of Excellence (CoE), you will consolidate fraud operational data into governed Snowflake data marts, enabling reliable operational reporting and analytics for fraud teams.

What you’ll work on

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that bring fraud operational data together from multiple source systems into governed Snowflake data marts.
• Collaborate with Fraud Data Engineering and the TDM platform team on the Fraud CoE data foundation, including summarized metric tables that standardize reporting across fraud product lines.
• Model analytical datasets in Snowflake to support fraud operations reporting, agent performance scorecards, and fraud tagging quality monitoring.
• Create and maintain dbt models that structure data for straightforward consumption by analysts and support Tableau reporting layers.
• Support production dashboards and leadership reporting by ensuring query performance, data freshness, and reliability for fraud data mart tables.
• Partner with fraud analysts to understand reporting needs and translate them into robust, reusable data structures.
• Develop and maintain summarized metric tables to centralize reporting logic and ensure consistency.
• Set and uphold data engineering standards, documentation practices, and pipeline design patterns for the Fraud CoE.
• Ensure data assets are documented, tested, and governed to meet audit and compliance requirements.
• Act as a data engineering subject matter expert in cross-functional discussions with Fraud Strategy, Fraud Platform, Risk Infrastructure, and Data Engineering partners.

What you bring

• 4+ years of data engineering experience with hands-on expertise in SQL, Python, and cloud data warehouse platforms.
• Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines using modern data stack tools such as dbt, Airflow, or equivalent.
• Strong data modeling skills, including experience designing analytical structures optimized for reporting and self-service consumption.
• Ability to work with analytics and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Strong documentation habits, with a commitment to data quality, testing, and pipeline reliability.
• Exposure to dbt Cloud, Airflow/MWAA, or similar orchestration platforms.

Helpful experience (strongly preferred)

• Experience in financial services, fraud, risk, or compliance data environments.
• Familiarity with fraud operations concepts such as fraud tagging, loss attribution, dispute workflows, agent performance metrics, or alert queue management.
