Job Description
Stafford Technology is seeking a seasoned COBOL/Mainframe Developer for a contract engagement based in Worthington, Ohio, with a hybrid work arrangement. The role centers on designing, building, testing, and deploying mainframe solutions in an Agile setting, leveraging COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL, and it includes on-call responsibilities as part of the contract.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of mainframe solutions using COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL
- Assess business and system requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions
- Troubleshoot, enhance, and optimize existing applications within a high-availability mainframe environment
- Engage in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on technical approaches and project goals
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL
- Strong understanding of Agile SDLC methodologies
- Proven problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience operating within large-scale enterprise mainframe environments
