Python Developer - AI Expert

YO IT CONSULTING is seeking a remote contract backend developer with a focus on Python based APIs and AI tooling. The role centers on designing, implementing, testing, and collaborating with AI research teams to advance Python-based APIs and AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints to support scalable backend services.
• Advance data validation, robust error handling, and security practices across backend systems.
• Plan and perform database migrations, performance tuning, and schema alterations as required.
• Test AI powered models in Cursor, delivering actionable feedback through incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots.
• Engage in four day intensive testing bursts to assess how AI models influence real coding workflows.
• Collaborate with the research team in a dedicated Slack channel to review findings and propose improvements.
• Provide thorough post burst surveys, delivering insights on model performance and the developer experience.

Requirements

• At least three years of professional backend development experience with strong Python expertise.
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Deep knowledge of data validation, error handling, and API security for backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Extensive use of AI-assisted coding tools; familiarity with Cursor is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with clear incident and bug reporting abilities.
• Proven ability to succeed in fast-paced, confidential, and collaborative remote environments.
