Principal Specifications Writer / Developer
Job Description
OnTarget Communications is seeking a Principal Specifications Writer / Developer to guide detailed project specifications in line with design intent, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to identify and document appropriate building materials, assemblies, and systems
- Prepare comprehensive project specifications and manuals using established master specification content
- Provide technical input and guidance throughout the design process and during construction
- Support project teams during construction administration with specification reviews and responses
- Conduct product research, analysis, and comparative evaluations
- Assist with technical problem solving and detailing as needed
- Contribute to quality control efforts related to documentation and specifications
Requirements
- 8 to 15 years of specifications writing experience
- Experience with VisiSpecs
- CSI certification is a strong advantage (examples: CDT, CCS, CCCA, CCPR)
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
