Job Description

Based in Virginia with remote work options, System One is seeking a PL/SQL Developer. The role focuses on developing and maintaining Oracle PL/SQL solutions, optimizing performance, and supporting production deployments while collaborating with cross-functional teams and keeping documentation up to date. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related discipline, and at least six years of Oracle database development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Oracle PL/SQL artifacts including functions, procedures, triggers, and packages using Oracle 11g or newer.
  • Collaborate with the production support group to ensure smooth transitions of system changes into production environments.
  • Design and maintain automation and data-processing scripts, including database maintenance and monitoring, using PL/SQL, Perl, and shell scripting.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance to development teams.
  • Analyze data and debug to identify data quality issues, support application troubleshooting, determine root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
  • Document systems and procedures, including diagrams and operational procedures.
  • Work with application, infrastructure, and support teams to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve database and application performance issues.
  • Ensure database environments follow best practices for reliability, scalability, and security.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with ability to obtain a public trust.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related discipline, or four additional years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of six years of experience as an Oracle Database Developer.
  • Ability to create, modify, and tune SQL queries and PL/SQL code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data and system performance issues.
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud technologies such as RDS, Lambda, EC2, Redshift is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • May require participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation or overnight deployments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust; onboarding requires approved adjudication of the Public Trust; active Public Trust or suitability preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Oracle performance tuning, including SQL and PL/SQL optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including triggers, procedures, functions, and packages.
  • Proficiency with SQL Developer, SQL Loader, and related Oracle tools.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with strong planning and coordination capabilities.
  • High levels of self-motivation and adaptability, with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and resolve complex technical problems in a distributed and complex IT environment, collaborating with both local and remote teams.
  • Nice to have: Oracle database performance tuning.
  • Nice to have: Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of AWS is a plus.
