Job Description

ARLINGTON COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is hiring a Data Engineer for an onsite role in Falls Church, VA. In this position, you will design, build, and maintain data infrastructure and production-grade pipelines that support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and future AI-oriented use cases.

The work centers on delivering trustworthy data to downstream consumers through strong data quality and data governance, while evolving a modern data platform capability for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure, integration processes, and production-grade data pipelines.
Support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and future AI use cases by establishing and evolving modern data platform capabilities.
Deliver reliable, well-governed data to downstream consumers with a strong focus on data quality and governance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field is required (Master’s degree preferred).
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible data engineering experience, including designing and supporting scalable data pipelines, transformation workflows, and modern cloud-based data platforms.
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL is required.
Experience with Apache Spark and other data ingestion and orchestration tools is strongly preferred.
Experience with distributed data processing frameworks and cloud-based data platforms; Databricks is strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of data integration patterns, batch and near-real-time processing, change data capture, and data quality controls.
Experience implementing data governance frameworks, including access controls, lineage tracking, validation, and monitoring practices.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, storage, and deployment concepts. Platform-specific certification is a plus (for example: Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate).
Experience in financial services, banking, or credit union environments is strongly preferred.
Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to partner closely with analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams.
