Job Description
ARLINGTON COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is hiring a Data Engineer for an onsite role in Falls Church, VA. In this position, you will design, build, and maintain data infrastructure and production-grade pipelines that support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and future AI-oriented use cases.
The work centers on delivering trustworthy data to downstream consumers through strong data quality and data governance, while evolving a modern data platform capability for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure, integration processes, and production-grade data pipelines.
- Support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and future AI use cases by establishing and evolving modern data platform capabilities.
- Deliver reliable, well-governed data to downstream consumers with a strong focus on data quality and governance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field is required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible data engineering experience, including designing and supporting scalable data pipelines, transformation workflows, and modern cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL is required.
- Experience with Apache Spark and other data ingestion and orchestration tools is strongly preferred.
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks and cloud-based data platforms; Databricks is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of data integration patterns, batch and near-real-time processing, change data capture, and data quality controls.
- Experience implementing data governance frameworks, including access controls, lineage tracking, validation, and monitoring practices.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, storage, and deployment concepts. Platform-specific certification is a plus (for example: Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate).
- Experience in financial services, banking, or credit union environments is strongly preferred.
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to partner closely with analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams.
