Machine Learning Engineer - AI Trainer

Build and evaluate AI coding results from anywhere. DataAnnotation is hiring an independent contractor for a Machine Learning Engineer - AI Trainer role in Shreveport, LA (onsite). You’ll contribute to AI development by creating coding problems, running verifications, and assessing AI model outputs. The work is flexible, project-based, and paid hourly through PayPal.

As an AI Trainer, you’ll help improve how AI systems generate code by combining strong software engineering with clear technical writing. You’ll work with state-of-the-art and unreleased AI coding agents, using your own computer, on a schedule you control within available project windows.

Responsibilities

• Create and work with coding environments, unit tests, and verifiers.
• Design and solve diverse coding problems used to train AI systems.
• Write clear, high-quality code and technical explanations.
• Evaluate model trajectories for accuracy, performance, readability, and best practices.
• Identify bugs, edge cases, and improvement opportunities in AI-generated solutions.
• Provide structured feedback to support the next generation of AI models.

Requirements

• Fluency in English (native or bilingual level).
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C, C#, C++, Go, Kotlin, Swift, or React.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including problem-solving, debugging, and code review.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress).
• Previous experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, Programmer, Full-Stack Engineer, Front-End Engineer, Back-End Engineer, or similar technical role is preferred.
