Lead AI / Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
Sherwin-Williams offers a remote role in Cleveland, OH for a Lead AI / Machine Learning Engineer who will help operationalize machine learning and data solutions used across cloud and internet-related tools. This position combines hands-on model delivery with MLOps leadership, with opportunities to strengthen scalable engineering practices and collaborate with a wide set of teams. What you’ll do
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of machine learning models and other data solutions aligned to business requirements and defined technical specifications.
- Lead model training, validation, and performance optimization, including implementing techniques for improvement and fine-tuning to reach high accuracy.
- Provide strategic direction on writing high-quality, maintainable, scalable code.
- Create and maintain technical documentation covering model development processes, deployment workflows, operational procedures, code comments, design documents, and user manuals.
- Drive MLOps practices by guiding CI/CD pipeline development for seamless model deployment, supporting automated testing across development, integration, deployment, and management, and helping ensure quality and security in line with industry standards and company policies.
- Partner across functions including data scientists, business analysts, software engineers, IT operations, quality assurance testers, and project managers to translate requirements into technical solutions integrated into production.
- Provide ongoing support for solutions, including incident and problem management, root cause analysis, request fulfillment, security compliance, fault repair, resiliency testing, and observability.
- Stay current with advancements in machine learning and MLOps, and explore innovative approaches to enhance the organization’s machine learning capabilities.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. In lieu of a degree, at least 9 years of experience in software development.
- 6+ years of experience across AI, ML, MLOps, and/or software development.
- Deep knowledge of SDLC methodologies and practices, especially MLOps and DevOps.
- Strong expertise with software development tools, platforms, and languages, particularly cloud platforms.
- Proven experience building, integrating, testing, and deploying software solutions for cloud-based or internet-related tools.
- Expert-level knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience developing microservices and in-depth knowledge of integration patterns.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred qualifications
- Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or equivalent certification.
- Experience in GenAI.
