Job Description

The Lead Software Engineer role is based onsite in Plano, TX and sits within JPMorganChase's Consumer and Community Banking - Deposits team. The position concentrates on delivering secure, scalable technology solutions across multiple domains in an agile environment, supported by at least five years of software engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code frameworks, plus container orchestration strategies using Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Spinnaker, while applying AI-driven automation to deployments across cloud and on‑premises environments.
  • Lead the architecture, deployment, and governance of cloud infrastructure in AWS, establishing practices for reliability, scalability, security, and cost optimization across cloud environments.
  • Advance the use of AI and machine learning within DevOps workflows, including intelligent monitoring, predictive analytics, and automated remediation, and assess AI-powered tools to raise development velocity and system reliability.
  • Oversee the integration of intelligent agents for workflow automation, decision-making, and process optimization.
  • Develop AI-powered observability capabilities to monitor and manage application and infrastructure health, automating alerting, root cause analysis, and incident response with advanced ML techniques.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Stay current with AI/ML technologies and industry trends, driving continuous improvement by evaluating new tools and approaches.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to a team of software and DevOps engineers, cultivating a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct code reviews, architectural assessments, and design discussions to preserve engineering excellence.
  • Promote the enterprise‑approved AI assisted engineering practices, establishing validation standards and encouraging reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Apply knowledge of the software development lifecycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development, to maximize the value of automation.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and a minimum of five years of applied experience.
  • Experience in AI/ML engineering with demonstrated expertise in agent-based systems and automation.
  • Strong background automating infrastructure as code development (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) with AI/ML approaches.
  • Deep understanding of observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) and AI/ML driven automation.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or comparable languages, with experience in ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven ability to apply software engineering practices within a technical discipline (cloud, AI, ML, etc.).
  • Experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted development tools (coding, code review, testing acceleration, troubleshooting) and setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong commitment to responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity handling, secure inputs/outputs, resiliency, and security; experience coaching engineers on compliant adoption.
