Lead Software Developer - Java, Kafka, Python

Build and deploy enterprise software with modern cloud and event-driven architecture. As a Lead Software Developer at PNC Financial Services Group, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable applications using microservices, Java, Python, Kafka, and cloud-native technologies. You will also help integrate Azure AI Foundry and generative AI capabilities into business solutions while leading technical design efforts in PNC’s Automation and Platform organization.

• Create and lead the technical design and development of software solutions.

Responsibilities in detail

• Design and develop scalable applications using microservices architecture principles.
• Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and bounded context concepts.
• Build event-driven systems using Kafka.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Python frameworks.
• Implement service discovery, API gateway, and security best practices.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Integrate Azure AI Foundry and generative AI capabilities into business solutions.

What you bring

• Experience with microservices architecture, DDD, bounded contexts, service discovery, and API gateway.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and Java (8/11/17+).
• Framework experience including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring Security.
• Python 3.x experience, including FastAPI and Flask (with Django listed as optional).
• CI/CD and automation experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and Azure DevOps.
• Experience integrating Azure AI Foundry, generative AI capabilities, LLM integration, and prompt engineering (including Azure OpenAI Services).
• Azure cloud experience.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with application monitoring and observability tools.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• 3+ years of relevant, direct industry experience (roles at this level typically require a university/college degree).
• Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience, including military service, may be considered).

Location, salary, and details

Location: Farmers Branch, TX (onsite)

Base salary: $86,250.00 – $172,500.00 per year

Incentive eligibility: This role is incentive eligible, with payment based upon company, business, and/or individual performance.
