Lead BI Developer - Stores
Job Description
Lead Business Insights Developer responsible for delivering BI products and insights for Macy's Stores, onsite in Johns Creek, GA, with a salary range of USD 90,100 - 150,300 per year.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with BI leadership and stakeholders to define business objectives, map project scope, and guide junior teammates to deliver concrete technical outcomes.
- Serve as the primary contact for project stakeholders within the assigned scope; respond promptly to inquiries and escalate when necessary.
- Apply advanced statistical methods to reveal patterns and insights, spanning from basic aggregation to complex analyses.
- Partner with Data Engineers on data collection, storage, and retrieval; coordinate with Data Governance to identify data issues and propose cleansing or enhancement solutions.
- Lead projects using analytical best practices, ensuring data sources are connected with quality and reliability.
- Utilize interactive dashboards and visualization tools to translate data into compelling insights with a strong focus on user experience.
- Oversee validation, QA testing, and peer reviews to ensure accuracy and integrity of reporting.
- Provide post-implementation support, including defect resolution and hands-on troubleshooting of reports in the field.
- Manage Power BI administration activities such as capacity planning, data connection oversight, and user/group access provisioning.
- Drive continuous improvement through performance optimization, automation, and expanded functionality.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful environment that strengthens relationships and authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- Other duties may be assigned in addition to essential responsibilities.
Requirements
- Group Work Leadership: Ability to lead portions of an agile pod, clearly communicate priorities, and provide effective technical support for junior colleagues.
- Consultative Mindset: Engage stakeholders beyond analytics to understand challenges and goals, adopting a business-first perspective when developing solutions.
- Technical Acumen: Knowledge of data pipelines, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), advanced report programming, and technical queries (SQL, R, Python, etc.).
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail, documentation, organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Maintain timely communication with management and stakeholders on project progress, issues, and concerns; develop effective communication plans for diverse audiences.
