Job Developer/Employment Specialist
Job Description
VALLEYLIFE offers a supportive, community-focused role in Phoenix, AZ with an onsite schedule and a $18–$20/hour hourly rate. This position supports people with disabilities through individualized job development, placement, and ongoing support tied to community integration and job retention. Responsibilities
In this role, you will work directly with clients and coordination partners to move from employment goals to stable, supported placements. You will connect with referring agency personnel, attend relevant staffings and meetings, and help implement the service plan goals that guide job development.
- Work closely with clients and referring agency personnel; attend all relevant staffings and meetings.
- Identify and develop community job sites for assigned clients using the referring agency’s service plan goals.
- Initiate contact with potential employers and explain VALLEYLIFE services as they relate to job placement.
- Assist with training for the interview process and job-seeking skills.
- Assist clients with training in the use of appropriate transportation.
- Coordinate with client, employer, and job coach as needed for orientation to new job sites.
- Provide employment counseling to clients as required.
- Participate in VALLEYLIFE fund-raising activities.
- Maintain and submit accurate records as required.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- A.A. degree or two years (60 hours) of college-level courses with emphasis in business, behavioral science, social work or a related field.
- One additional year of work experience in the field of vocational services may substitute for the education requirement.
- Must hold a valid Arizona driver’s license and be eligible to drive VALLEYLIFE vehicles.
- Must have the ability to utilize a personal vehicle when required to perform position responsibilities.
- Minimum 2 years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of the local labor market and employers.
- Extensive knowledge of vocational training programs as they pertain to individuals with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships with individuals served, families, referring agency staff, employers, supervisor, co-workers, and agency staff.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to plan, organize, and carry out program objectives.
