Full stack Software Engineer, Senior

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join its Dayton, Ohio onsite team, focusing on modernizing GEOINT systems. In this role, you will architect cloud-native, data-driven applications and guide modernization initiatives across mission-critical platforms to support analysts handling high-consequence missions. You will shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product owners and mission users to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

The Opportunity

Lead the modernization of essential GEOINT systems by delivering cloud-native, data-driven applications and microservices. In this senior capacity, you will set technical direction, oversee the integration of modern pipelines, and develop secure, scalable solutions that directly impact mission analysts.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Spearhead the architecture, design, and delivery of full‑stack capabilities across cloud‑native microservices
• Own key system components and shape the modernization and cloud adoption roadmap
• Build distributed, secure, scalable backend services using Python, Java / Spring Boot, or related technologies
• Design and govern cloud deployments on AWS, including Kubernetes clusters, infrastructure as code, security controls, and reliability patterns
• Lead DevSecOps practices, including GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, secure coding standards, and supply‑chain integrity
• Integrate large-scale data, search, or analytic pipelines such as Kafka, NiFi, Elasticsearch
• Collaborate with product owners, mission users, and cross‑functional teams to define requirements and technical strategy
• Mentor mid‑level and junior engineers; perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices
• Evaluate emerging technologies such as LLMs/AI, synthetic data, and augmented development tools for mission relevance

YOU HAVE

• 6+ years of experience in full‑stack software engineering
• Experience leading technical delivery or architecture for cloud‑native or distributed systems
• Proficiency with Python, C++, Java, Spring Boot, or related enterprise stacks
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, or SQLite
• Experience architecting and deploying solutions on AWS (preferred) or Azure
• Experience with containerization and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with complex API ecosystems such as FastAPT, REST, gRPC, or GraphQL
• Experience building secure, high‑performance applications in classified or highly restricted environments
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

NICE IF YOU HAVE

• Experience with automated testing tools for ongoing maintenance
• Experience with AI‑augmented development workflows or agentic tools (eg Codex, Claude, or OpenCode)
• Expertise with distributed search or data platforms (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr, Kafka, NiFi)
• Experience modernizing legacy applications into contemporary frameworks
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Experience integrating AI/ML or LLM‑based development workflows
• Experience supporting GEOINT or Intelligence Community analytic missions
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

CLEARANCE

Applicants must be eligible for a security investigation, with TS/SCI clearance required.

COMPENSATION

The projected annual salary range is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00, with final compensation determined by factors including location, education, knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements.
