Front-End Software Developer

Strategic Sight Consulting LLC builds modern front-end software interfaces for modeling and simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HITL), and advanced engineering environments that support critical national security missions. As a Front-End Software Developer, you will design and implement front-end solutions for engineering, simulation, and test applications, collaborating with modeling and simulation engineers, embedded developers, hardware engineers, and systems engineers. This position is offered with a USD 160,000 - 200,000 per year salary range and requires active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement user interfaces for engineering, simulation, and test applications.
• Partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams to translate complex technical workflows into effective software solutions.
• Develop production-quality front-end applications using modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or similar.
• Build and maintain data-intensive interfaces including dashboards, visualization tools, and engineering applications.
• Integrate front-end applications with REST APIs, WebSockets, message-based interfaces, and other backend services.
• Create user-facing software interfaces that interact with real-time data, simulation environments, and HITL systems.
• Translate complex system and user requirements into intuitive, effective interfaces.
• Support development activities including version control, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD processes.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
• Additional 4 years of experience in software design and development.
• Experience building production-quality front-end applications using modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or similar.
• Strong proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript, plus modern web application architecture.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs, WebSockets, message-based interfaces, or other backend services.
• Experience developing data-intensive interfaces, dashboards, visualization tools, or engineering applications.
• Familiarity with software development practices including Git, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD.
• Ability to work directly with engineers and technical users to translate complex system requirements into effective user interfaces.
• Proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity with Python, C++, or other languages commonly used in engineering and simulation environments.
• Experience with 2D/3D visualization, geospatial interfaces, plotting, or scientific visualization libraries.
• Familiarity with simulation tools or frameworks such as MATLAB/Simulink, ROS/ROS 2, Unreal Engine, Unity, Gazebo, or similar.
• Experience integrating software with unmanned systems, robotics, embedded systems, test equipment, or physical hardware.
• Experience developing applications for aerospace, defense, autonomy, or other complex engineering environments.
