Data Engineer, Apple Ads
Job Description
Apple Ads is hiring a Data Engineer to strengthen the Ad Platforms Data team, focused on building the data infrastructure behind next generation analytics and customer experiences. In this onsite role in Cupertino, you will develop and improve high performance data stores and analytical data warehouse capabilities, partnering across engineering, product, and analytics to deliver reliable, scalable data systems.
What you’ll work on
- Analyze the existing data model and infrastructure, identify gaps, and recommend architectural improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and support next generation analytics and reporting systems.
- Partner with product and analytics teams to understand their data system requirements.
- Automate and optimize data processing tasks by spotting recurring patterns and implementing durable solutions.
- Deliver solutions with an emphasis on high performance, privacy, security, scalability, and reliability.
- Share knowledge and best practices so partners can use the data warehouse platform effectively.
- Work comfortably as part of a distributed team.
Key requirements
- Experience designing and operating petabyte-scale data processing systems.
- Deep expertise in Apache Spark performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience with both batch and real-time/streaming architectures, including Kafka and/or Flink.
- Experience building data platforms or processing frameworks reused by multiple teams or pipelines.
- AWS experience, including S3 and Kubernetes/EKS (or equivalent cloud platforms).
- Minimum 1+ years experience in Cloud Data Engineering, preferably with a background in computer science, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Expertise building cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or analogous architectures.
- Strong SQL skills, including data modeling and dimensional modeling, plus experience with data governance.
- Practical application experience with data warehousing concepts, methodologies, and frameworks.
- Experience with tools and technologies such as Python, Spark, Talend, Informatica, SSIS, or DBT.
- Data platform thinking, including designing data pipelines with security, scale, uptime, and reliability in mind.
- Ability to clearly explain the benefits and constraints of technology solutions to technical partners, stakeholders, and team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay and benefits
Base pay for this role ranges from $129,300 to $194,700 per year. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
