Job Description

Robert Half is seeking a Data Engineer in Madison, WI (onsite) to support cloud data capabilities and deliver reliable, scalable data platforms for analytics and reporting. This role focuses on building data solutions, improving automated data movement, developing data models, and supporting data quality and platform stability. Salary range is USD 100,000 - 140,000 per year, with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

What you’ll do

  • Build data solutions that help analytics and reporting teams access information that is reliable and usable.
  • Improve how data moves across the organization by creating efficient automated processes that reduce manual work and increase consistency.
  • Support large-scale cloud data environments by enhancing performance, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to platform stability.
  • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into practical data solutions.
  • Develop and refine data models that support operational reporting, business intelligence initiatives, and future growth.
  • Work with a variety of data sources and formats to ensure data can be used effectively across teams and applications.
  • Help establish data quality standards using validation, monitoring, and ongoing process improvements.

What you bring

  • Cloud-based data engineering and platform development.
  • Experience with data warehousing and analytics environments.
  • SQL development and data modeling.
  • Python-based data processing and automation.
  • Hands-on building and supporting modern ETL or ELT frameworks.
  • Large-scale data processing technologies such as Hadoop or Cloudera.
  • Data quality, governance, validation, and performance tuning.
  • Beneficial experience with one or more of the following: AWS (including Glue, Athena, Redshift); Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Hive, or EMR; Kafka or other streaming technologies; PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
  • Beneficial experience with one or more of the following: Linux administration and scripting, Agile development environments, AI-assisted development tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet client background clearance requirements, with U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder status.
