Consulting/Principal Software Engineer

Consulting/Principal Software Engineer role at RELX/LexisNexis USA focused on leading major software development efforts for legal research and document-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver large, multifunctional software development activities
• Handle complex technical problems, including writing complex code for software systems and acting as a senior technical authority in software development
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for external technology resources
• Provide design input across software product initiatives
• Collaborate directly with customers and end users to gather requirements
• Act as the acknowledged go-to person for coding and technical issues
• Interface with technical personnel and teams to finalize requirements
• Write and review portions of detailed specifications for system components of moderate complexity
• Resolve complex technical issues and complete complex bug fixes
• Design and work with complex data models related to software development
• Mentor lead software developers on consultancy for development methodologies and optimization techniques
• Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
• 7 years of experience in the job offered or related occupations
• 7 years of experience building cloud-native microservices and using:
  • AWS
  • Java and Spring Boot for processing and analyzing litigation and transactional documents
  • Integrations with machine-learning algorithms that extract structured metadata from documents for law firms
• 7 years of experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems using:
  • Microservices architecture
  • Robust API design
  • System-level optimizations to process and index millions of documents efficiently
  • Cloud-native technologies
• Reports to the RELX Inc. d/b/a LexisNexis USA office in Raleigh, NC; may telecommute from any location within the U.S.

Salary

• U.S. national base pay range: $115,400 - $192,300/year (geographic differentials may apply)
• REQ# R118852 salary range: $169,736.16 to $177,000.00/year + standard company benefits
