Software Engineer

Thomson Reuters is hiring a Software Engineer to help build and enhance systems and tools for its Regulatory Intelligence platform. Based in Eagan, MN with a hybrid work model, this role supports Agile delivery across the software development life cycle, with a focus on server-side web services and related client components. You will also help handle production issues and reinforce development best practices.

The position centers on designing and delivering internal application components, collaborating in scrum ceremonies, and contributing to solutions for technical challenges. The work involves building services that transform and exchange data formats and supporting operational needs for business teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver components for internal applications.
• Develop server-based software using ReST web services that process XML and return XML and JSON.
• Develop client application components using JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX.
• Work in an Agile, collaborative environment by participating in scrum ceremonies, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and offering new ideas to the team.
• Provide rapid response and resolution for production issues as part of an operational support team (may include off-hour support).
• Generate innovative approaches and solutions to technology challenges.
• Promote development best practices and leverage TR and industry-standard technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience with computer systems analysis and programming.
• 1 to 2 years of Java programming experience or coursework.
• Experience with object-oriented design and development.
• Experience building web-based applications using RESTful services and working with JSON, XML, AJAX, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Working knowledge of XML parsing and processing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work and adapt within a collaborative environment.
• Self-motivated and self-directed approach.
• Ability to plan and prioritize work effectively.

Compensation

• USD 76,200 - 141,400 per year
