Cloud Software Engineer 3

J&T Business Consulting is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer 3 for onsite work in Annapolis Junction, MD to build and improve complex Big-Data Cloud systems.

Responsibilities

• Work individually or with a team to review and test software components against design requirements.
• Document test results and resolve software problem reports.
• Apply software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provide input to system design components, including:
  • hardware/software trade-offs
  • software reuse
  • COTS/GOTS integration
  • requirements analysis and synthesis from system level down to individual software components

Requirements

• Experience: 12 years of experience in software engineering programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Cloud Big-Data / Distributed Computing substitution rules:
  • 4 years of Big-Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline may substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification can substitute for 1 year of Cloud experience.
• Specific Big-Data and Cloud experience:
  • 4 years in programs using Big-Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing
  • 2 years of Cloud and/or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR)
  • 1 year implementing code interacting with Cloud Big Table, Cloud Distributed File System, and Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks
  • 1 year implementing complex MapReduce analytics
  • 1 year architecting Cloud Computing solutions
  • 1 year debugging problems with Cloud-based Distributed Computing Frameworks
  • 1 year managing multi-node Cloud-based installations
• Utility Computing, Network Management, and Virtualization (VMware or VirtualBox), including multi-node management/installation using Python, CFEngine, Bash, Ruby, or related technologies.
• Information assurance for cloud-based and distributed applications using standard techniques (Firewalls, PKI Certificates, Server Authentication) plus corporate authentication service experience.
• Object-Oriented Design and Programming; Java; Eclipse (or similar); Maven; RESTful web services.
• Cloud and distributed computing technologies including YARN, J2EE, MapReduce, Zookeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, and concurrent programming.
• Information retrieval components including HDFS, HBase, Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, and MongoDB.
• Data ingestion, parsing, and analysis across disparate sources and formats including XML, JSON, CSV, binary formats, sequence/map files, and Avro.
• Aspect-Oriented Design and Development; JVM memory management; application profiling.
• UNIX/Linux experience, including CentOS.
• SIGINT background in at least one SIGINT collection discipline (FORNSAT, CABLE, Terrestrial/Microwave, Overhead, ELINT), including geolocation, emitter identification, signal applications, joint collection platforms, dataflow architectures, and signal characterization analysis.
• CentOS and Linux/RedHat experience, plus configuration management tools (Subversion, ClearQuest, Razor).
• Security clearance: Active TS/SCI with a current polygraph.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements.
• Contribute across back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing.
• Apply expertise in Cloud Computing, the Hadoop Eco-System, Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval (IR), and Object-Oriented Design.

Compensation & Total Rewards

• Target salary range: USD 203,000 - 230,000 per year (estimated base compensation based on experience, geographic location, education, role responsibilities, and contractual requirements).
