Software Engineer Level 1

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC (GEO + BAT Teams) effort with software development and performance-focused engineering.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to deliver new features
• Debug existing software and resolve defects
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments
• Create simple data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories
• Develop recommendations to improve documentation and software development process standards
• Develop and implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
• Assist in developing and executing test procedures for software components
• Write or review software and system documentation
• Build software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, collaborating with users or system engineers, evaluating system flow and data usage, and investigating problem areas
• Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process used on the project
• Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
• 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
• Strong Java experience
• Experience with MapReduce
• Cloud experience
• Experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar
• Experience with MapReduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar
• Experience with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
• Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON
