Software Engineer Level 1

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC (GEO + BAT Teams) effort in Annapolis Junction, MD (onsite). If you want to work on complex, data-intensive analytics and real-time systems while building strong engineering fundamentals, this role combines hands-on development with opportunities to improve software performance and process quality.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze user requirements to establish software design and performance requirements.
• Design and code new software or modify existing systems to add capabilities and improve performance.
• Debug existing software, correct defects, and adapt solutions for new operating environments and hardware.
• Integrate existing software into modified systems, deployments, or operating environments.
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, system flow, and data usage, and investigating problem areas.
• Serve as a team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process used on the project.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes.
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.

Required Skills and Experience

• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
• 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Strong Java experience.
• Experience with MapReduce.
• Cloud experience.
• Experience with distributed, scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar.
• Experience with MapReduce technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar.
• Experience with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
• Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.

Education and Experience Equivalency:

• High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience
• Associate’s Degree with 11 years of experience
• Bachelor’s Degree with 7 years of experience
• Master’s Degree with 7 years of experience
• PhD with 7 years of experience
