Software Engineer 2

Base-2 Solutions is hiring a Software Engineer 2 to support the implementation of the MDAT system in a Java and Python environment. This role focuses on building and validating software using AWS services, working closely with system engineering teams through an agile process, and prototyping solution approaches in the cloud.

This is an on-site position in Laurel, MD on the first shift. The role requires U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.

Role Overview

• Implement the MDAT system using Java and Python with AWS services.
• Implement automated tests at functional and systems levels.
• Partner with system engineers to execute an agile process.
• Prototype solution space in the AWS cloud.
• Develop, maintain, and improve complex software systems based on documented requirements, including examples such as processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
• Resolve software problem reports.
• Use appropriate software development and design methodologies for the development environment.
• Provide input to system design for software components, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and selection of COTS/GOTS versus new development, plus requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Requirements

• Software Engineer experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity that meets the applicable education and experience pathway in the equivalency section.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus Seven (7) years as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• In lieu of a degree: Eleven (11) years total Software Engineer experience (Seven (7) years + Four (4) additional years) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Active Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
