Software Engineer 1or2

Akina, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer (Software Engineer 1or2) onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD to build and improve complex software systems supporting analytics, real-time processing, and business management information systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems using documented requirements.
• Work independently or collaborate with a team.
• Review and test software components against design requirements.
• Document software test results and findings.
• Investigate and resolve software problem reports.
• Apply software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provide technical input to system software design, including:
  • Hardware/software trade-offs
  • Software reuse strategy
  • Use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) in place of new development
  • Requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components

Requirements

• Satellite protocol processing experience with the ability for critical thinking.
• Programming language experience, ideally in C++; Go, Rust, or Python are acceptable.
• Clearance: TS/SCI with polygraph required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of additional SWE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Software Engineer 1or2 Qualification Tracks

• SWE-1: Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• SWE-2: Fourteen (14) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Compensation

• Salary range: $178,000 to $263,000 per year (likely range; not a guarantee).
• Compensation may be set based on experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside the displayed range.
