Career Specialist - Job Developer (Case Manager)
Job Description
The Career Specialist - Job Developer role at the Old Colony YMCA Haverhill Community Justice Support Center focuses on helping adult justice-involved individuals with histories of addiction connect with meaningful work. This onsite position in Haverhill, Massachusetts blends job development, client assessment, and collaboration with local employers to create practical pathways to employment. The role offers a pay range of USD 23 to 24 per hour and requires a Bachelor Degree in a related field.
Responsibilities
- Perform work readiness assessments to gauge participants' preparedness for employment
- Lead groups or classes on topics such as resume design, job search strategies, job retention, interview skills, and life skills
- Educate participants about CORI issues
- Network with a variety of area employers, agencies, and career centers to generate new employment opportunities
- Verify employment and related details as needed
- Make referrals to outside agencies or departments as appropriate
- Participate in weekly Clinical meetings
- Maintain a caseload, including timely monthly assessments and administering LS/RNR and/or ORAS assessment tools, along with other program assessments
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in a related field; experience in career development is preferred
- Familiarity with local employers, agencies, and career centers is a plus
- Ability to network within the community to create new opportunities for clients
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy
- Local travel for meetings and networking, plus onsite job verification
- One early evening availability is required
- Willingness to work with adults with substance use disorders, adults who are justice-involved, and people impacted by trauma
- Driver's license required
