Backend API Developer, Junior
Job Description
Blu Omega LLC is seeking a Junior Backend API Developer to support a federal program that builds the National Weather Service's enterprise data layer. In a mission critical environment, you will design, develop, and implement Python based APIs to enable searching and accessing weather datasets. The role is primarily remote with occasional on-site collaboration in Silver Spring, Maryland, and offers a salary between USD 85,000 and 110,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Create and deploy Python FastAPI endpoints guided by project requirements
- Adhere to the approved Agile lifecycle, draft design documents, and perform coding tasks
- Address technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation
- Interpret data, analyze results, and deliver ongoing reports
- Ingest data from primary or secondary sources
- Identify, analyze, and interpret data sets and document recommendations
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Bachelor's degree required; a master's degree can substitute for two years of experience
- Strong Python skills with hands-on experience in FastAPI
- Experience building RESTful web services
- Familiarity with Git for source control
- Experience with build automation tools such as Jenkins or Hudson
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability/fitness determination based on client requirements

Location
