AVP Senior Java Developer
Job Description
Citi is hiring a Senior Java developer for its Credit Risk Technology team in Rutherford, NJ (onsite). This role focuses on building robust, high-performance, large-scale application systems while taking on technical leadership across CI/CD, containerization, orchestration, monitoring, cloud, and security.
The Financials Technology team delivers solutions that support credit risk management, helping risk analysts and risk managers perform credit financial analysis across business groups. Key initiatives include extending financials reporting and analytics capabilities, building a self-service portal, and strengthening service-oriented architecture for credit assessments, with credit analysis processes aligned to regulatory guidelines.
What you’ll do
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior Dev engineers, including mentoring on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Lead complex projects from inception through completion, including systems analysis and programming activities.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
- Implement advanced delivery patterns including blue/green deployments, canary releases, and feature flags.
- Optimize pipelines for speed and reliability.
- Lead containerized application implementation and management using Docker.
- Design and manage Kubernetes clusters for high availability and scalability, troubleshooting complex orchestration issues.
- Build end-to-end monitoring and logging solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or Splunk, including dashboards and alerts.
- Analyze monitoring data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP, leveraging cloud-native services to deliver scalable and resilient applications while optimizing for cost and performance.
- Apply security best practices across CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure, including security audits, vulnerability assessments, enforcing security policies, and leading incident response efforts.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to support seamless integration and delivery.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures, while communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for processes and systems.
What you bring
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Java, including systems analysis and programming of software applications.
- Development experience with Java, Spring, and REST API.
- Expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and Big Data.
- Hands-on experience with AI development tools such as Co-pilot and DEVIN.
- Proficiency with scripting languages like Python (bonus).
- Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes (containerization and orchestration).
- Expertise with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps.
- Extensive monitoring and logging experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and/or Splunk.
- Strong understanding of networking and security principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with leadership experience mentoring others.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator.
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to manage deadlines and unexpected changes under pressure.
- Experience managing and implementing successful projects.
- Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods.

Location: Rutherford, NJ, United States (onsite)
Salary: USD 121,200 - 181,800 per year
