Job Description

This onsite Android Lead Developer position, based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, with Tata Consultancy Services, focuses on steering architecture, design, and development of complex Android applications. The role includes mentoring the team and driving engineering excellence to deliver robust mobile solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and development of sophisticated Android applications, prioritizing scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Make high level design decisions, enforce SOLID principles, and set the technical direction for the team.
  • Drive the adoption and implementation of Jetpack libraries and Jetpack Compose across projects.
  • Oversee integration of third party SDKs and ensure best practices in dependency management.
  • Design and implement responsive user interfaces for phones, tablets, and foldable devices.
  • Establish and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Promote code quality through rigorous code reviews, documentation, and comprehensive test coverage (unit and UI).
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver features that align with business and user needs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional Android development experience.
  • Proficiency with Coroutines and structured concurrency.
  • Experience with extension functions and higher-order functions.
  • Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Koin.
  • Ability to create custom Compose components and modifiers.
  • Experience with modularization and multi module project structures.
  • Strong understanding of advanced error handling and functional programming concepts.
  • Deep expertise in Android architecture components, Jetpack libraries, and Jetpack Compose.
  • Experience implementing biometric authentication (fingerprint, face recognition), passkeys (FIDO2/WebAuthn), password manager integration, and Android Autofill.
  • Solid grasp of software design patterns, MVVM/MVI architectures, and SOLID principles.
  • Proven experience integrating third party SDKs.
  • Hands-on experience with unit testing (JUnit, Mockito) and UI testing (Espresso, UI Automator).
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows.
