Job Description
Cognizant is seeking a Senior Android Developer (Hybrid) to help define clean architecture patterns and modular Android design approaches, while delivering modern async and reactive solutions. The role also includes building AI agents that support vulnerability discovery and remediation across native mobile applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Define clean architecture patterns and Android Jetpack-based modular designs that clarify separation of concerns, improve testability and maintainability, and establish boundaries between presentation, domain, and data layers.
- Drive adoption of modern asynchronous and reactive patterns using Coroutines and Rx JAVA to enhance app responsiveness and simplify concurrency management.
- Optimize performance by profiling startup time, memory usage, network calls, and rendering pipelines, then implementing targeted improvements in Compose UI, data access, and caching strategies.
- Implement and review Android security controls, including secure storage, network encryption, authentication flows, and defenses against common mobile threats to protect sensitive data.
- Establish comprehensive testing approaches using unit tests, instrumentation tests, and UI tests, and integrate them into continuous integration pipelines for reliable release quality and rapid feedback.
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend engineering to translate business requirements into Android-focused technical solutions that support usability and long-term maintainability.
- Guide teams on using Android Jetpack libraries for navigation, lifecycle management, dependency injection, and data persistence to reduce boilerplate and align with recommended practices.
- Support Android distribution planning using Play Store configuration, build variant management, feature flagging, and phased rollout strategies to manage risk while enabling frequent releases.
- Embed Android accessibility best practices into Compose UI components, layouts, and interactions to support users with diverse abilities.
- Provide structured debugging for complex production issues using profiling tools, logs, and crash analytics, converting findings into durable fixes.
- Design and develop AI agents for vulnerability discovery, triage, root-cause analysis, and remediation across native mobile applications.
- Build workflows that inspect source code, dependencies, platform configurations, and data flows to identify security weaknesses.
- Enable agents to detect issues such as insecure data storage, sensitive information exposure, weak cryptography, insecure network communication, and authentication or authorization flaws.
- Integrate security scanning tools into agent workflows to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives.
- Support agent-generated fixes by enabling workflows to create regression tests, run builds and security checks, and prepare pull requests with supporting evidence.
- Collaborate with application security, architecture, mobile engineering, and QE teams to validate and improve agent behavior.
