Sound Income Group is seeking a WordPress focused full-stack developer to lead the technical direction of our WordPress-based digital assets from our Fort Lauderdale office. The role centers on architecting scalable themes and plugins, integrating external services, and partnering with marketing and design teams to drive growth through a robust online presence. This onsite position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of full-stack experience.
Position Summary
The WordPress Full Stack Developer acts as a technical architect for our digital ecosystem, bridging complex back-end functionality with polished front-end experiences. You will build, customize, and maintain high-performance WordPress sites, integrate third-party services, troubleshoot critical issues, and collaborate with marketing and design teams to deliver reliable, scalable digital tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead the WordPress environment as the primary technical authority, assessing project requirements to choose optimal themes, plugins, and custom development approaches.
- Create and tailor advanced WordPress themes and plugins from scratch, following WordPress standards, security practices, and version control.
- Design database schemas, custom post types, and advanced custom fields to support complex content and marketing needs.
- Oversee staging and production workflows to ensure smooth deployments and minimal downtime.
- Handle the full stack of web development, delivering responsive front-end interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while building robust back-end solutions with PHP and MySQL.
- Integrate websites with external APIs, CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot), marketing automation tools, and e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce).
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure the site architecture supports SEO strategies, conversion rate optimization, and analytics tracking.
- Identify performance patterns or user feedback and provide actionable technical recommendations to marketing leadership to improve speed, UX, and functionality.
- Monitor website health, including uptime, security vulnerabilities, and plugin compatibility; implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
- Plan for scalability by addressing potential challenges such as traffic spikes or API changes and implementing robust solutions.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues, conducting deep-dive troubleshooting into code conflicts, server errors, or database problems.
- Act as the technical liaison between marketing, external vendors, and internal stakeholders, translating business needs into technical requirements.
- Work with the Project Coordinator and design teams to refine workflows, ensuring realistic timelines and high-quality deliverables.
- Contribute to the development roadmap by proposing enhancements to the digital experience platform informed by new technologies and business needs.
- Represent the technical perspective in internal discussions to support growth through reliable, high-performing digital tools.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of professional experience in full-stack web development.
- At least three years of hands-on WordPress development, including building custom themes and plugins.
- Proven PHP development experience within a WordPress context.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Core technologies: PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS.
- WordPress specifics: Advanced Custom Fields, Custom Post Types, REST API, Theme/Plugin Development Hierarchy, Hooks (Actions/Filters).
- Front-end: Modern JavaScript frameworks (React or Vue.js preferred), responsive design, cross-browser compatibility.
- Tools: Git/GitHub, npm/Webpack, Composer.
- Server/DevOps: Experience with LAMP/LEMP stacks, cPanel, command-line interface, and staging/production workflows.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot independently.
- Effective task prioritization, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication for translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborating across teams.
- Attention to detail with a focus on clean, documented, and secure code.
