Web Developer (IT Associate, Level 2 Hourly)

Part-time Web Developer at The City University of New York's Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, collaborating with communications, marketing, and technology teams to plan, build, test, and enhance the school's web services and digital properties.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily planning, coordination, and upkeep of the school’s primary web assets and select initiatives.
• Partner with campus teams to craft strategic and operational plans that enable web service delivery.
• Lead, coordinate, and implement project plans to support web initiatives and related digital communications needs.
• Maintain open communication with communications, marketing, technology, and planning groups to ensure efficient workflows and cross-team alignment.
• Collaborate with designers, content editors, and technical staff on the design, development, testing, and deployment of web-based programs and information systems.
• Research, select, implement, and maintain web-based applications integrated with diverse data sources.
• Develop and manage web development procedures, tools, and documentation, including scope documents, source code management, and support standards.
• Participate in all project phases, including development, design, testing, and production.
• Track and assess new technologies and techniques for potential adoption in the school’s web environment.
• Ensure application software, database software, and operating systems remain current and meet performance and access standards.
• Assist with coordinating procurement, receiving, and payment activities for new technology and digital tools.
• Monitor departmental budgets related to web services and digital initiatives.
• Advise school-wide committees and project groups as needed and help coordinate information and activities.
• Support business continuity planning and recovery efforts when technical issues arise.
• Stay informed about technological developments and professional practices through publications, conferences, and collaboration with colleagues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Seven years of post-high school experience in a computer or technology related role, which can be satisfied by: seven years of full-time work in a computer/tech position; an Associate's degree plus five years; or a Bachelor's degree plus three years.
• Demonstrated English language proficiency.
• Valid New York State driver’s license may be required for some positions.
• The role has three levels; Level 2 and Level 3 require additional qualifications such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization.
