Training Developer 2
Job Description
Johnson Service Group Inc. is seeking a Training Developer 2 to shape and deliver training programs in a Birmingham, AL hybrid environment. This contract role blends hands-on instructional design with independent project management, supporting both instructor-led and eLearning initiatives while collaborating with L&D teams, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders to translate needs into effective learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Partner with L&D consultants, stakeholders, and SMEs to identify training gaps, establish objectives, and capture audience requirements.
- Lead or participate in content-gathering sessions, clarify expectations, and incorporate stakeholder input throughout the development lifecycle.
- Provide regular progress updates to leadership and stakeholders, flag risks, and maintain current status in project management tools.
- Design and develop comprehensive training curricula and materials, including instructor-led decks, participant and facilitator guides, job aids, reference materials, and knowledge checks.
- Construct eLearning modules using approved authoring tools, applying instructional design principles and adult learning best practices for engaging digital experiences.
- Transform source materials into polished deliverables using approved templates, recommending instructional strategies based on project needs.
- Facilitate content reviews with stakeholders to validate materials and ensure alignment with learning objectives.
- Perform quality assurance testing and iterative revisions across learning products, including eLearning validation within the LMS staging environment.
- Upload and manage course content in the LMS, ensuring functionality and learner experience while providing QA/QC feedback to peers and stakeholders.
- Support ongoing content updates, revisions, and maintenance, ensuring accuracy, version control, and adherence to guidelines.
- Format and organize materials for usability and accessibility across delivery methods.
- Provide multimedia development support, including recording, editing, and integrating voice-over narration; demonstrate experience with eLearning authoring tools, with Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) preferred.
- Regularly upload and maintain training content in the content management library for internal teams, customers, and instructors, ensuring accuracy, completeness, versioning, and standards alignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Communications, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent instructional design or multimedia experience.
- 5 to 10 years of instructional design or curriculum development experience with a proven track record of delivering high-quality training content.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical or industry content into clear, instructionally sound materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (advanced PowerPoint and Word), voice-over tools, Adobe Acrobat Pro, SharePoint, and Learning Management Systems; experience with eLearning authoring tools, preferably Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise).

Work Location & Schedule
The position supports multiple openings in the Birmingham, AL area and follows a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence four days per week. There is no relocation assistance provided.

Position Qualifications
