Staff Software Engineer, Cybersecurity

Bloom Energy is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Cybersecurity to help strengthen the security posture of its cloud and software delivery environment. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Software Engineering, this role is based in San Jose, CA and operates fully on-site in the office 5 days a week.

The position focuses on implementing cloud security controls, enabling secure CI/CD workflows, hardening infrastructure as code, enforcing encryption, and contributing to vulnerability management and incident response support.

Responsibilities

• Implement cloud security across IAM, network, secrets handling, and runtime protection.
• Build and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines including SAST, DAST, SCA, and secrets scanning.
• Secure Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Pulumi, with automated compliance checks.
• Enforce encryption for data in transit and at rest.
• Support vulnerability management and incident response activities.

Requirements

• Approximately 5 years experience in cloud security and/or DevSecOps.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with CI/CD, containers, and IaC.
• Strong Python and shell scripting (bash) skills; Golang is a plus.
• Familiarity with software supply chain security.
• Understanding of standard SDLC practices.
• Proficiency with Git and familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

Compensation: USD 114,800 to 165,200 per year.
