Staff Software Engineer, Agentic AI Harness & Quality

ServiceNow is building next-generation enterprise AI capabilities through its Agentic AI Harness & Quality team. In this Staff Software Engineer role, you will help evolve the Moveworks AI Assistant platform to improve agent reliability and scalability, tackling core production engineering challenges across orchestration, execution safety, and performance.

Based in Mountain View, CA (onsite), the position calls for deep experience delivering production systems and the engineering judgment to operationalize advanced AI approaches at scale.

What you’ll do

• Own difficult engineering work across areas including agent orchestration, sandboxed file systems and code execution, latency optimization, agent memory, and LLM self-reflection
• Implement frontier AI algorithms and architectures, then help productionize them at scale
• Apply the latest advances in machine learning, LLMs, and AI agents to enhance products and improve user experiences
• Contribute to the roadmap and help drive the evolution of engineering areas with growing scope and impact for customers
• Write robust, extensible, readable, and performant code
• Collaborate with subject matter experts across the company, including teams in machine learning, security, product, user experience, and customer success
• Mentor other engineers on how to build, maintain, and evolve great software
• Partner with machine learning engineers to build world-class AI systems

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience designing, building, and improving production systems, ideally at scale
• Ability to think and communicate clearly about complex engineering problems and systems
• Comfort giving and receiving feedback, and holding yourself and others to high standards of operational excellence
• Readiness to get started quickly in a Mac development environment, with programming experience in Python, Golang, and/or Java
• Desire to ship at a startup pace with strong ownership
• Attention to detail
• Drive to deliver production-grade code that improves product capabilities
• Strong appetite for continuous incremental wins and completing challenging projects quickly
• High curiosity about engineering beyond immediate discipline, with ongoing desire to learn and stay current in applied AI
