Sr Java + Oracle developer

Vibotek LLC is hiring a Sr. Java/Oracle Developer to support Quality1 Scrum Teams delivering components for the NAQ Platform and/or Business Applications. The role is onsite in Plano, TX and focuses on building secure, scalable services and reliable Oracle database functionality, with cloud deployment and automation responsibilities.

Role Overview

The Sr. Java/Oracle Developer will serve as a member of the Quality1 Scrum Teams. The position participates in bi-weekly Scrum Ceremonies and delivers software components that support the NAQ Platform and/or Business Applications.

Java Development and Web Services

• Design, develop, and test Java-based web services to support high performance, security, and scalability.
• Implement RESTful and SOAP web services using Spring Boot and Spring MVC with related frameworks.
• Analyze and refactor existing Java code to improve efficiency and maintainability.
• Write and unit test components using JUnit and Mockito, including integration testing frameworks.
• Participate in peer design reviews for other technical leaders to ensure alignment with best practices.
• Provide technical leadership in detailed software designs, including defining application architecture.
• Create development plans for assigned activities to support timely delivery of features and bug fixes.
• Create and refine user stories in collaboration with product owners and cross-functional teams.
• Support Agile delivery through backlog grooming, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
• Provide regular progress updates via Wallchart or other tracking systems to maintain visibility into development progress.

Oracle Database Development

• Develop and maintain Oracle database components, including tables, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies.
• Optimize SQL queries and database performance while ensuring data integrity and system efficiency.
• Work with QA teams to review test cases related to shared database logic and application interactions.

Cloud Deployment and CI/CD Automation

• Deploy and manage applications in AWS or other cloud environments, with a focus on scalability and security.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Use version control systems including Git, GitHub, and Bitbucket for source code management and collaboration.

Collaboration and Code Quality

• Conduct peer code and design reviews to support maintainability, security, and adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate with QA teams to validate test cases, debug issues, and improve system reliability.
• Work within Agile methodologies to support iterative development, continuous feedback, and efficient releases.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Java development experience, including Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• 5+ years of Oracle database development experience, including PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and query optimization.
• 3+ years of cloud platform experience, preferably AWS, including cloud-based application deployment.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (including Git, GitHub, Jenkins, etc.).
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ for messaging and event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Knowledge of frontend technologies (React, Angular, or Vue.js) is a plus.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Ability to take ownership and work independently on complex projects.
