Job Description

Constellation Energy Generation, LLC. is hiring an Sr Data Engineer, AI in Baltimore, MD (onsite) to help lead the design, build, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of AI solutions. In this role, you will own AI-focused data platforms, data pipelines, and release-quality delivery in Azure-based systems, collaborating across Scrum teams in an agile environment.

This position offers a competitive compensation range of USD 129,600 - 194,400 per year, with total rewards that include a comprehensive benefits package and bonus eligibility for eligible employees.

What you’ll do

  • Lead efforts for designing, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining AI solutions, products, and processes.
  • Own architecture and delivery of AI data platforms/products and data pipelines, ensuring secure, maintainable code practices.
  • Evaluate technology standards and market options to deliver solutions that meet business and IT needs, including risk and benefit assessment.
  • Collaborate with Scrum masters, project managers, QA, Creative, and UX to support project compliance and delivery needs.
  • Coordinate tasks of less experienced engineers, provide oversight, and coach engineers assigned to product or project teams.
  • Review peer code, advocate for standard development methodologies, and support inclusive, cross-functional teamwork.
  • Architect, design, implement, and test to ensure products are built correctly and released with high quality.
  • Develop and optimize large-scale AI data platforms and frameworks for both real-time and batch high-volume processing.
  • Develop complex data algorithms to support AI/ML, data analytics, machine learning, or scientific computing.
  • Design and query database structures including tables, views, functions, stored procedures, and batch processes.
  • Build and support interfaces connecting websites, back-end systems, and 3rd party cloud solutions, vendors, and customers.
  • Research and support issues across application layers and databases; lead peer code reviews and debugging/problem solving.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and scale Azure architecture and ensure deployments can run via Azure DevOps.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 5 years of experience (or 9 years experience in lieu of degree).
  • 5+ years of RDBMS experience.
  • Experience implementing data pipelines using latest technologies and techniques.
  • Strong t-SQL skills with experience in Azure SQL DW.
  • Experience with JSON, JSON-LD, and XML data structures.
  • Hands-on programming experience including Java 8, C#, node.js, Python, SQL, and Unix shell/Perl scripting.
  • 5+ years industry experience as a data engineer, with involvement in the data component of the AI/ML lifecycle and a solid understanding of applied machine learning topics.
  • 3+ years consulting or client service delivery experience on Azure.
  • Experience handling structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Cloud migration methodologies and processes with tools like Azure Data Factory and Event Hub.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools and event-driven architecture.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Databricks and Spark (with PySpark preferred).
  • Proficiency designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, PySpark, and related tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud-native data tools.
  • Experience integrating data from diverse sources such as APIs, flat files, and databases.
  • Experience configuring secure external data connections using Service Principals, SAS Tokens, OAuth, and mounting techniques (including examples like Azure Data Lake Storage and On-prem SQL Server).
  • Strong understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance standards, including experience implementing data governance frameworks for data quality management.
  • Expertise with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for orchestrating and automating data workflows across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with independent decision-making, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
  • Experience with Git and Azure DevOps, including build pipelines and code branching/merging.
  • Experience writing technical reports and procedures.

Expected salary range of $145,800 to $162,000, varies based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
