Sr. AI Developer

Senior AI Developer on a federal program, focusing on end-to-end AI, ML, and LLM initiatives with Azure deployments and Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI powered applications using Azure AI services, including Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Studio, Azure AI Search vector search, and applicable Cognitive Services.
• Own the full lifecycle of AI solutions—from prototyping and model development to deployment and production integration.
• Design, develop, and integrate AI capabilities with low-code/no-code platforms (Appian, UiPath, Pega) to enable scalable automation and workflow solutions.
• Build and implement LLM based solutions such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation, intelligent chatbots and copilots, and AI driven automation tools.
• Develop scalable backend services and APIs to support AI functionality using Python.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and inference using Azure data services like Blob Storage and Data Lake.
• Apply prompt engineering, model evaluation, and optimization techniques to improve performance, accuracy, and usability of AI solutions.
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing enterprise applications, including .NET based systems where applicable.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
• Maintain lightweight technical documentation, including architecture overviews, API documentation, and key design decisions.
• Ensure secure coding practices and alignment with enterprise security guidelines (NIST, FedRAMP awareness).

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience with increasing focus on AI/ML solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver end-to-end AI/ML or LLM based solutions, from data ingestion and model development to deployment and production integration.
• Strong Python programming experience for building AI/ML applications.
• Hands-on experience building LLM based applications using Azure AI services (Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Studio, Azure AI Search) and familiarity with OpenAI APIs, LangChain or Llama Index, and Hugging Face.
• Experience developing REST APIs and backend services with FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.
• Proficiency in data processing with Pandas and NumPy.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into production applications and enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with cloud native development practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience or familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms (Appian, UiPath, Pega) is a plus.
• Understanding of secure development practices and enterprise environments; NIST/FedRAMP awareness preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in fast paced environments.
• Excellent problem solving and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective communication skills for conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Adaptable and flexible; capable of managing multiple priorities across cross functional teams.
• -.NET/C# experience is a plus for integrating AI services into existing applications.
• Certifications: Microsoft Certified Azure AI Engineer Associate; Microsoft Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate. Other AI/ML or cloud certifications (Appian/Pega/UiPath Developer, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are a plus.
