Software Engineer Team Lead
Job Description
What we offer Emergent Staffing presents a direct-hire Software Engineer Team Lead role that combines hands-on development with leadership. This remote opportunity is based in Houston, TX, offers a 9/80 schedule, and carries a salary between $120,000 and $140,000 per year. You will help build and guide a newly formed compliance-focused development team, splitting time roughly 50 percent on coding and 50 percent on mentorship and people leadership.
Responsibilities
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to a growing software engineering team.
- Partner with engineering and product leaders to shape and scale a new compliance-focused development group.
- Design and implement backend systems and cloud-based applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions aligned with strategic initiatives.
- Define and improve development processes, engineering standards, and team best practices.
- Review architecture decisions and steer technical direction across multiple projects.
- Cultivate a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-driven tools where appropriate.
- Contribute directly to software development while balancing leadership duties.
Requirements
- Proven experience building software with C# and SQL.
- Experience creating and maintaining cloud-based applications and services.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture and scalable system design.
- Interest in people leadership, mentoring, and team development.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities.
