Software Engineer IV

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the architecture of complex, cross-functional software and automation systems, ensuring scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Develop strategic approaches for AI-enabled applications, including enterprise-grade chatbots and intelligent workflow automation.
• Establish, document, and enforce engineering best practices across teams to promote consistency and quality.
• Design, implement, and review mission-critical services using Node.js, Python, and MSSQL with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership on long-term product and platform evolution, guiding architectural direction and technology adoption.
• Collaborate with executive, product, and operational stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
• Ensure robust testing practices across teams, including unit, integration, and automated testing strategies.
• Navigate major design decisions, risk assessments, and technical trade-offs, balancing innovation with stability.
• Drive organization-wide initiatives related to code quality, observability, DevOps maturity, and engineering efficiency.
• Mentor engineers across all levels, shaping a high-performance, inclusive, growth-oriented culture.
• Champion the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies to enhance innovation and business value.
• Review and contribute to technical documentation to ensure alignment with standards and clarity of architectural strategies.
• Consistently deliver production-ready code and drive project deliverables to meet or exceed expectations.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and MSSQL, with a track record of scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Extensive experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js and React, including architectural design and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise applications.
• Deep understanding of Git workflows, automated testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines in large-scale environments.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML technologies, including Generative and Agentic AI (for example, ChatGPT), into production systems.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) with expertise in infrastructure design, deployment automation, and cost optimization.
• Strong capabilities in performance tuning, security best practices, and advanced debugging techniques.
• Proven success leading cross-functional engineering initiatives and mentoring developers across levels.
• Experience driving technical strategy and aligning engineering efforts with organizational goals.
• A passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with a track record of evaluating and adopting new technologies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, management, providers, leadership, patients and families, insurers, vendors, and Trinity Health.

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities and large workloads.

• Ability to travel to other office sites as needed.

Minimum physical and environmental expectations

• Physical activity that often requires keyboarding and prolonged computer use.
• Frequent time spent at a computer, with occasional walking, standing, and posture changes.
• Occasional lifting or moving of light objects up to 20 lbs may be required.
• Vision requirements include close vision and depth perception for screen work; proficient hearing and speaking in English for business communications.
• This role operates in both office and medical facility environments with regular movement between locations; on-call and travel as needed, including nights and weekends as appropriate.
