Software Engineer II
Job Description
Mastercard’s Portfolio Intelligence team is hiring a Software Engineer II to design and build real-time, interactive analytics applications. This hybrid role is based in Arlington, VA and focuses on full-stack development, scalable architectures, and cross-functional delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, service-oriented software architectures that support analytics-driven applications.
- Build and enhance robust web applications, improving product capabilities over time.
- Write well-structured, maintainable code using modern design patterns and principles that support separation of concerns.
- Develop clean, testable code and participate in peer code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
- Create algorithms and analytical techniques capable of on-the-fly processing across hundreds of dimensions.
- Contribute across the development lifecycle, including design, implementation, and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver scalable and resilient applications aligned with business needs.
- Apply emerging technologies and innovative approaches to optimize performance in large-scale data environments.
- Use expertise in computer science, mathematics, and statistics to solve complex challenges for global organizations.
Requirements
- Hands-on software engineering experience with a strong background in full-stack development and building scalable, high-performance applications.
- Full-stack development expertise spanning UI, microservices architecture, and database technologies.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL; experience with Snowflake is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub CoPilot and AI integration within the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Solid understanding of software design patterns, system architecture, data structures, and algorithms, including experience designing maintainable, resilient, high-performance systems.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex, real-world technical challenges and innovate with large-scale data sets.
- Proven ability to perform in collaborative, agile development environments, contributing to planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with initiative and creativity when approaching new challenges.
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay range: USD 106,000 - 169,000 per year
Pay ranges: Arlington, Virginia: $106,000 - $169,000 USD
