Software Engineer II

The Software Engineer II role at Draeger Medical Systems, Inc. is a hybrid, Andover, MA based position focused on the software architecture, design, implementation, and testing of product software, with emphasis on improving development efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of engineers and test personnel to deliver high quality outputs across design, implementation, integration, testing, and support stages of product development.
• Diagnose, debug, and resolve defects with minimal supervision.
• Design small software modules and functions.
• Translate design concepts into functional, tested software.
• Comply with internal SOPs as well as FDA and industry regulations.
• Utilize the software configuration management system to maintain software files accurately.
• Build software and install it in both development and product environments.
• Support clinical engineers, quality engineers, service engineers, and test personnel by executing tests, reproducing defects, and documenting defect analysis in a defect-tracking tool.
• Take direction from senior engineering staff, seek guidance when needed, respond to coaching, analyze outcomes to improve, and tackle unfamiliar tasks.
• Provide feedback during code and design reviews.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in software design, analysis, and troubleshooting within an engineering environment (1-3 years of experience with a MS degree).
• Ability to provide constructive code and design feedback and communicate effectively within the organization.
• Proficiency in C/C++ development.
• Experience with one of the following: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, UNIX/Linux development environment tools, or UNIX/Linux systems programming.
• Experience with the Qt software development framework or any GUI development experience.
